June 30, 2010 - 61st Annual Installation Dinner

Our newly minted officers and directors for 2010-2011 were sworn in at our 61st Annual Installation Dinner at Leonard's of Great Neck. Food and drink flowed as our members and honored guests mingled during the cocktail hour and dinner. We all enjoyed a great evening. Past president Hon. Charles Lopresto awarded a plaque to outgoing president Peter Carrozzo for his distinguished service to the Association, which was followed by the installation of the officers and directors who will serve for the 2010-2011 term. New president Dominic Chiariello addressed the gathering, thanking the former president, officers and committee members for their generous help and support, and roused us all for the coming year's activities. Good luck Dominic!

April 22, 2010 - Judiciary Night

Our Judiciary Night boasted more than 250 attendees, including 80 judges, in honor of our past-president, Hon. Charles Lopresto, Supervising Judge of the Civil Court Queens County. Judges from the federal bench, the Appellate Division 2nd Dept., Supreme Court, the Queens County Surrogate, Family Court, New York City Civil and Criminal Courts, and Housing Court gathered with members of the bar in the best and most well attended Judiciary Night in Queens County. Judge Lopresto received numerous proclaimations, acclaimations and commendations from our Assocation and officials of Federal, State, City and local governments.

Our annual Judiciary Night is our premiere networking event for our members, friends and guests. We invite the entire judiciary serving Queens County, including the Judges of the Eastern District of New York, the New York State Administrative Judges, and the Justices of the Appellate Division 2nd Department, as our complimentary guests. We could not run such a successful event without the talent and hard work of our committee chairpersons, Bernard Ferrera, Esq. and Richard Piccola, Esq., and their committee: Joseph Mattone, Jr., Esq., Annmarie Barbagallo, Esq., Claudia Lanzetta, Esq., and Michelle McSweeney, Esq. Thank you all for a job well done!

April 2010

Not only does member and Columbian Lawyers officer James Pagano sing the blues, but he recently made a presentation before the New York City Lawyers Association Committee on Minorities and the Law with Lionel Ouellette of CHANGER and Paula L. Heaven, Esq. of Erasmus Neighborhood Federation on predatory lending, loan modification, foreclosure and bankruptcy. Jim was also noted in Crain's New York for his representation of Burger At Its Best in its Chapter 7 bankruptcy. And, if that's not enough, Jim represented our Association at the Italian American Law Student Forum at the Italian Consulate General's Office in Manhattan where he lectured law students on the topic of "Bankruptcy - It's Application". The Association thanks Jim for his time and effort.
